UBC's Medical Students for Life
club was created in 2009 with the goal of helping our classmates become better informed about issues of life. We believe that life begins at conception and should be honoured as such, and that there are two victims in every abortion: the woman and her child. Since physicians act as the primary interface between their patients and medical knowledge, and are often the driving force behind ethically questionable research, educating our colleagues is an effective way to spread the pro-life message to the larger medical community and beyond. In particular, our group has focused on disseminating medical literature pertaining to fetal awareness, abortion, and its effects on women's and children's health.
Our events have included hosting speakers on topics such as Prenatal Palliative Care, screening films like National Geographic's "In the Womb", and holding a Family Fun Night in honour of our classmates with families and as a fundraiser for the Vancouver Crisis Pregnancy Centre. We are always looking for new members and ideas, or you can join our open email list to receive relevant research articles and political updates that pertain to the practice of life-honouring medicine. Please if you have any questions or would like to get involved!
