The Mac Meds Matters of Life
interest group was formed in 2009 to encourage dialogue around ethically-laden life issues. As future physicians, we believe we have a responsibility to respect and protect the dignity of life at all stages. Our group serves as a forum for students to explore the challenges of practicing medicine with integrity whilst caring for all patients with compassion, equality and respect. We seek to inform our peers about scientific, ethical, legal and moral aspects of complex issues as a supplement to curriculum material.
Our interest group has organized talks regarding conscientious objection and the ethics of prenatal screening. We will be holding a set of movie and discussion nights in the coming months and plan to write an article highlighting the dignity of all human life for our bi-monthly, class-wide newsletter. It is our hope to get more students involved, equipped and passionate about fighting for life. Please contact
if you’re interested in finding out more about the group or joining us!
